Hi Valderi -

I just came upon your blog. Wow! It’s so strange. You got the meaning of my lyrics to “Still Life” exactly 79.6% right! Fantastic.

Being that the song lingered with you and there was a “shower epiphany”, I felt I had to send a note off just to say thanks for truly listening to the lyrics. As an artist, it’s nice to know that you are actually connecting to people and that your words and music resonate.

Still Life is about being so busy, you miss important moments in your life. It’s about not taking the time to self reflect, and forgetting to nurture love. Oddly enough, having a window seat on a moving train is a great opportunity for thinking, reflecting and emoting and just being “still” while the train takes you to your destination.

But you are right in that the song is also about becoming the observer instead of the observed, and being still so that your lover can find you again.

Something to think about the next time you are washing your hair.
